Wintershall Noordzee B.V. based in Rijswijk, the Netherlands, was established in 1965. BASF and LetterOne want to found one of the largest independent oil and gas companies in Europe. And are planning to issue an IPO in the medium term.
Wintershall DEA: success based on tradition.
BASF is in discussions regarding a potential merger of BASF Group’s oil and gas activities with Letter One’s oil and gas activities bundled in the DEA Group. BASF would hold the majority of the shares in the joint enterprise. An Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the joint enterprise would be an option in the medium term. The outcome of the discussions is open and there is no assurance that any transaction will be consummated.

The holding consists of five subsidiary companies, is 50% shareholder in Wintershall Noordzee B.V. and Wintershall Services B.V., and is sole shareholder in Wintershall Transport & Trading B.V., Wintershall Global Support B.V. and Wintershall Petroleum B.V., all located in Rijswijk. Wintershall Noordzee B.V. and Wintershall Services B.V. are active in the exploration and production of oil and gas in the Dutch, Danish and English sectors of the North Sea.
